The Types of Branding Films and How They Can Help Your Business to Grow
As a business (both local to us in Atlanta or beyond: we travel throughout the Southeast!) you might be wondering what type of film you need for your business. Do you talk to the camera? Do you invest in having your users submit testimonials? What about clips for social media?
We’ll break down a few of the terms and vocabulary used in the filming industry, so you know exactly what to ask for and set up for your business branding films.
There are a few types we refer to at Keegan Cuen Films:
Promotional Films
These types of films are typically under 1 minute in length, and are designed to grab the attention of your given audience. This attention is then directed towards a specific product or service. When marketed well, promotional films are wonderful for attracting potential clients to your website and social media pages.
Promotional films can include:
interiors of your business
product glamour shots
your consumers using your products
the making of your products
highlights of your services
Branding Videos
Different from promotional films, branding videos show off your business as a whole, and not just a product. These types of films are typically 1-2 minutes in length and are designed to help you better explain your business's brand to potential clients. Branding films will capture your business’s services and values so that when people watch your film, they will immediately be able to grasp who you are and what your business has to offer.
Think talking to the camera while explaining your process or exactly what you do; along with how you help benefit your potential clients.
Branding videos can include:
a “floating head” of you talking to the camera about yourself and values
sweeping shots of you working or your office space
close ups of your process or voiceover of your values
Testimonial Films
Testimonials are a great option if you are looking to build or add to your business’s credibility. Asking users to submit clips, or bringing consumers into your business to shoot with you can show an outsider’s perspective of your business.
Everyone loves to include written testimonials near the end of their web pages. However, I believe that utilizing written statements in unison with video that shows real consumers will present your business in a much more professional light.
And last, but certainly not least…
Social Media (Instagram Reels and TikTok) Films
These types of films can be bits and pieces of all the previous types! When working with a film studio (like us!) be sure to ask or make them aware that you would like films shot in a vertical format. (Isn’t it the worst that Youtube is horizontal and social is vertical, basically requiring two different formats completely?) A good video team will know how to sort and separate videos so that they will work for your various types of social media.
So, what type of film do you need?
